Man Utd explore three Sancho alternatives, show Almada ‘admiration’

Man Utd have lined up three possible alternatives in case they fail to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho this summer, according to reports.

The England international winger has been in outstanding form for the Bundesliga outfit this season, notching 20 goals and adding 19 assists from just 39 appearances across all competitions.

It was claimed back in April that he had agreed to provisional personal terms over a switch to Old Trafford, although no transfer agreement has been finalised as Man Utd hope that Dortmund will lower their hefty asking price.

The Independent claimed on Monday that Sancho ‘currently looks a likelier signing’ than Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, who has also been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

However, the Manchester Evening News reckons that Man Utd ‘are monitoring a raft of potential targets in case their interest in Borussia Dortmund star Sancho bears no fruit’.

Wales internationals David Brooks and Rabbi Matondo are on that list, while the Red Devils ‘have identified teenage Argentine winger Thiago Almada’ as another alternative.

Man Utd view right-wing ‘as a key area to strengthen this summer’ with sources in Argentina telling the MEN ‘of United’s admiration for the player, though the teenager would appear to be a back-up target as things stand’.

A previous report from TuttoMercatoWeb reckoned that Velez Sarsfield’s Almada could be available for €18m (£16m).
