Reports in Germany say United are ‘preparing a new offer’ after Dortmund turned down a €98m bid.

Man Utd have had their first bid for Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho rejected by the Bundesliga club, according to reports in Germany.

Rumours have persisted over the last 18 months that United will try and secure a deal for Sancho, with the Red Devils now looking likely to attempt to sign Sancho this summer.

The Independent claimed on Friday that Dortmund are ‘willing to let’ Sancho leave this summer but only ‘for the right price’ with ‘all sides are confident a deal can be done’.

The newspaper said that the ‘grand caveat’ would be if Man Utd failed to qualify for the Champions League – but with the Red Devils finishing third in the Premier League on Sunday there seems to be little holding a deal back.

If anything is going to scupper a deal it seems to be either club’s valuation of Sancho with Bild (via Sport Witness) claiming that Dortmund have rejected a bid from Man Utd.

The Bundesliga outfit are ‘certain’ that Man Utd are ‘serious’ in their interest with the report claiming that Dortmund want €120m.

Bild adds that United are ‘preparing a new offer’ after Dortmund turned down a €98m (£89m) bid.

On top of that, the German publication claims that Dortmund want a deal sorted in the next two weeks and won’t be sold after August 10 – when the German side travel to Switzerland for a pre-season training camp.

However, James Ducker of the Daily Telegraph claims rumours that Man Utd have made a bid for Sancho are false.

Daily Mirror journalist David McDonnell agreed with Ducker as the English media took a different view on how negotiations are proceeding.
