Man Utd will take advantage of Real Madrid’s other summer priorities to beat them to the signing of Bayern Munich attacker Jamal Musiala, according to reports.

The former Chelsea and Southampton youth star has been in brilliant form for the Bavarian giants over the past season with 16 goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances in all competitions.

Musiala left Chelsea for the Bayern Munich youth ranks in July 2019 and made his first-team debut at the Allianz Arena in June 2020, becoming the youngest player to play a match for Bayern in the Bundesliga.

He played for the England national team all the way up to under-21 level but he switched allegiance to Germany, where he was born, in 2021.

Musiala already has 23 caps for the German national side at the age of 20 and the attacking midfielder is now attracting interest from Man Utd.

A report last week claimed that Man Utd ‘blows up the market’ by making a €100m (£85m) bid for Musiala and it was claimed that the Bayern Munich youngster ‘could put pressure on’ Bayern Munich ‘to open the doors and accept United’s offer’.

And now Spanish publication Nacional claim that their €100m offer could see them beat off competition from Real Madrid with a ‘KO to Florentino Perez’.

Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag is ‘desperate to be able to count on’ Musiala for next season but ‘everything indicates that Bayern will ask for even more money’ after the Red Devils initial €100m bid.

Real Madrid president Perez is ‘also attentive’ to Musiala but, with Los Blancos having ‘no intention of trying to hire him this summer’, the report hints that Man Utd will use their inaction to their ‘advantage’.

Mason Mount is another player who Man Utd are interested in and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano brought an update on their pursuit of the Chelsea midfielder on Thursday.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Another player leaving Chelsea could be Mason Mount, but Manchester United still need to agree a fee.

“The feeling is positive, because Mount has informed Chelsea he has no desire to sign a new contract, so Chelsea could lower their asking price to more like £60-65m, add-ons included, similar to how they did with Kai Havertz.

“Mount is 100% keen on Manchester United, but the Red Devils will not spend all summer bidding for Mount, so if this can’t be done soon they will explore other targets.”
