Man Utd launch final Fernandes bid as Glazers ‘stand firm’

Manchester United continue to negotiate with Sporting for main transfer target Bruno Fernandes.

The long-awaited deal appeared to have reached a stalemate with both clubs sticking to their valuations of the midfielder.

Fernandes is valued at £68m by Sporting, who want to make sure they are not forced to sell their star man on the cheap.

United had previously offered £42.5million with another £8.5million possibly due in add-ons but Sporting have been looking for a larger chunk of any fee to be paid up front.

And according to The Sun, ‘United co-chairman Joel Glazer, who signs off transfers, simply believes the structure of the deal is not right and the player is not worth what is being asked’.

But Portuguese outlet A Bola claims that both clubs continue to work on a deal, with the Red Devils ready to press ahead with a final offer.

The newspaper reports United are willing to now offer £46m to Sporting, with a further £8m in add-ons – which again falls short of the club’s expectations.

But with Fernandes desperate to leave this month, representatives reportedly spoke over the phone on Thursday to try and come to an agreement.
