Premier League side Man Utd have joined the race to sign Patson Daka from Red Bull Salzburg, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with moves for a number of strikers in the summer transfer window but they are yet to bring in any players.

A new contract for Dean Henderson is one of their biggest deals of the summer so far as they have struggled to bring in reported top target Jadon Sancho.

The latest rumour in The Sun is that United are ‘ready to snap up’ Daka from Salzburg with ‘a number of other big clubs’ monitoring his progress.

The striker scored twice in a 2-2 friendly draw with Liverpool last week and now Man Utd are ‘jostling with the Reds’ for his signature.

The Red Devils missed out on signing Erling Haaland in January as he joined Dortmund from Salzburg with the likes of Sadio Mane, Naby Keita and Takumi Minamino also being sold over the last couple of years by the Austrian club.

Daka scored 24 goals in 31 league matches for the Austrian outfit with the report claiming that Man Utd would be ‘serious rivals’ if they let the Senegal international leave.

Any deal for Daka – whose contract runs until 2024 – could set the Red Devils back over £20m but after missing out on Haaland, Man Utd ‘know the cost of not swooping for young talent soon enough’.
