Man Utd look to capitalise on Everton relegation as Erik ten Hag plots brutal double raid

Manchester United are plotting moves for Everton duo Amadou Onana and Jordan Pickford this summer, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his squad in the transfer market and is allegedly considering a stunning double raid on the relegation-threatened Toffees.

Indeed, if Everton are relegated this season, they could be set to lose more than one of their key players in the upcoming transfer market.

But, Onana and Pickford’s potential departure could still happen if Everton aren’t relegated, too. This is because the Blues are currently under investigation for alleged Financial Fair Play breaches.

As a result, they could be forced to sell some of their prized assets as they try to balance the books, and Onana and Pickford certainly fit into that category.

As reported by TEAMTalk, Man Utd are keeping a close eye on Onana and are ‘set’ to make a move if Everton do go down.

The 21-year-old has been one of Everton’s outstanding performers this season after his arrival from Lille last summer, for a fee of approximately £33m.

Everton are ‘aware’ they would find it difficult to keep hold of the Belgium international should they be relegated from the Premier League and his suitors are actively monitoring the situation.

The Merseyside club are currently two points outside the relegation zone, with three tough games against Manchester City, Wolves and Bournemouth remaining

But, as mentioned, their ongoing financial issues may mean they are forced to sell Onana, even if they surive the drop, with Man Utd one of the main contenders to sign him.

However, the midfielder isn’t the only Everton player Man Utd have an interest in. Indeed, Pickford has been on Ten Hag’s radar for some time.

As noted by Football365, David de Gea’s recent poor form has brought his spot in the starting XI into question.

The Spaniard is currently close to signing a new contract Red Devils, but, this doesn’t necessarily mean Ten Hag will see him as a first choice option next term.

With that in mind, Man Utd have been linked with several goalkeepers in recent weeks. One of these is Everton number one Jordan Pickford.

The England international was instrumental in keeping the Toffees in the Premier League last season.

Now, it’s looking like Pickford could play a key role in keeping them up again. Against Brighton on Monday, the shot-stopper made at least three jaw-dropping saves to ensure the Blues claimed a memorable 5-1 victory at the Amex.

His importance to the team was underpinned when he signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract at Goodison Park in February.

But, as with Onana, if Everton do get relegated, it seems inevitable Pickford would be sold. But, if they stay up, a sizeable offer could potentially force the Toffees’ hand.

It truly would be a miserable summer for Evertonians if they lost two of their best players to Man Utd. So, it will be interesting to see how this story develops over the next few months.
