Luke Chadwick thinks his former club Man Utd can “can still appeal to the world’s best players like Kylian Mbappe” amid reported interest in the Frenchman.
Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to either England or Spain since becoming a world class forward in France.
Liverpool, Man Utd, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all thought to be interested in the 21-year-old, with a report on Sunday in The Times claiming the Mbappe wanted to leave Paris Saint-Germain next summer.
He’s thought to be interested in a move that will further his career, particularly in either England or Spain.
And Chadwick thinks Man Utd have what it takes to bring Mbappe to the Premier League at Old Trafford.
“I think it was essential that Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] got the club into the Champions League,” Chadwick told CaughtOffside .
“Every player knows the history of Manchester United and what the club wants to achieve.
“They’ve had seven poor years now, but these players can be a part of bringing the glory years back.
“I think Manchester United can still appeal to the world’s best players like Kylian Mbappe.”
However, he is concerned that Premier League clubs could struggle to finance a deal for Mbappe but, if they can, then Man Utd will be at the front of the queue.
Chadwick added: “The problem is Liverpool now, I don’t know where the finance would come from.
“Obviously United have huge financial clout, but to bring someone like Mbappe is going to cost a small fortune.
“He’d definitely be worth the money but it’s whether the Premier League clubs can afford that at this moment in time.
“Obviously Paris look like they’ve got money to burn so you do worry if the likes of United and Liverpool could spend that sort of money to get Mbappe into the Premier League, particularly in the current situation.”
