Man Utd target Kevin Trapp speaks to the media

Man Utd are hoping to sign Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp before the end of the transfer window, according to reports in Germany.

Trapp, who has played six times for the German national side has been at Frankfurt for five seasons now after returning to the Bundesliga club for €7m following an unsuccessful three-year spell at Paris Saint-Germain.

He played most matches for PSG during his first season at the Parc Des Princes before being gradually phased out at the club.

Man Utd offer an Antony swap deal and Rooney wants to ditch Maguire as nonsense escalates

Trapp is back to playing regular football again at Frankfurt but there has been interest in abroad once again with Premier League side Man Utd keen on bringing in a goalkeeper before the deadline.

David de Gea has been great for the Red Devils over a number of seasons but there is a feeling he needs to be pushed hard by a good deputy after making mistakes already this campaign.

And Sport Bild (via Sport Witness) claim that Man Utd ‘want to sign’ Trapp this summer and ‘have already made an offer’ for the 32-year-old.

They do add though that it is ‘unclear’ whether United’s bid will be successful and Bild don’t reveal any specific details of the offer.

Sport Witness add that Man Utd have ‘not made a move’ for Greek international Odysseas Vlachodimos, while Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer has also been ruled out.

One player rumoured to be leaving Old Trafford this summer is captain Harry Maguire with claims Chelea are interested in taking him to Stamford Bridge.

The Daily Mail claimed on Friday that Chelsea had ‘made a shock enquiry’ for Maguire but former Premier League striker Noel Whelan can’t see it happening.

When asked if he could see Maguire moving to Chelsea this summer, Whelan replied to Football Insider: “No. I’d find it very strange that Chelsea would go in for him right now.

“I’d find it even more baffling if Man United were willing to let him go with the desperation they’re in. I think it’s speculation, and I’d be very surprised if that came off.

“Maguire’s not the only player not playing at the top of his game right now. It’s a disease that spreads in a team sometimes, and I’m sure his performances will get better.

“I’m sure Man United fans don’t want to see them selling one of their record signings to a club who is going to be competing in the Champions League.”
