Manchester United have made an enquiry for a Wolves defender according to a recent report as Erik ten Hag looks to add to his squad.

It has been suggested that Man Utd might need to offload some players before they are able to bring in some more stars of their own.

Ten Hag’s side have had a solid transfer window up until this point, but Man Utd have struggled to get going in their opening two matches.

They looked unconvincing against Wolves for large spells and then they fell to a disappointing defeat to Tottenham.

On this evidence, they still have plenty of gaps to plug and they have recently been looking at a Premier League defender.

According to Football Insider, Man Utd have made an ‘enquiry’ for Wolves full-back Nelson Semedo.

The report claims that Ten Hag is looking to add a more attacking full-back to his ranks and a potential bargain deal could be on the cards.

As Wolves are still looking to offload players due to financial fair play, Semedo could be available at a cut-price towards the end of the window.

Man Utd had been linked with a number of right-backs earlier in the window, but their interest cooled as Ten Hag was seemingly happy with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot.

Signing a new right-back certainly isn’t top of the agenda for Man Utd right now, but someone like Semedo could still be a useful option.

From Man Utd’s point of view, it is crucial that they sign a new holding midfielder between now and the end of the window.

Ten Hag’s side have looked lethargic in the middle of the pitch and Casemiro has come under fire for his sluggish start to the season.

“I think they have big problems in midfield. The set-up of their midfield is not right for me. I think there are a few things wrong,” Jamie Carragher told Sky Sports.

“The manager’s set up, what he is asking them to do in terms of the profile of players, is not right.”

“This guy [Casemiro] in midfield, as we saw last Monday night and as we saw constantly on Saturday night, is being left exposed in the middle of the pitch on his own and he cannot cope.

“James Maddison runs off the back of him, gets away from him and is right at Manchester United’s back four.”

Plenty of midfield options are currently being considered by Man Utd, but they might need to offload a player or two themselves before they can strike a deal.
