Man Utd ‘mole’ claims Cavani ‘furious’ with Ole, says Keys

Richard Keys has a Manchester United ‘mole’, and he’s informed the former Sky Sports presenter that Edinson Cavani “stormed past” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Saturday.

The Uruguayan scored 17 goals for United last season but is yet to find the net in the current campaign.

He’s struggled for game time following the summer arrivals of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, with academy graduate Mason Greenwood also playing a major role.

Cavani was handed a surprise start at the expense of Ronaldo against Everton, before being replaced by the former Real Madrid and Juventus star on the hour mark.

And Keys explained in his blog that his ‘mole’ at Old Trafford told him that Cavani was visibly ‘puzzled and furious’ at being withdrawn.

Keys wrote: ‘Solskjaer started his best centre-forward, but strangely chose to withdraw him after an hour. I’ve no idea why – but more significantly – Cavani was both puzzled and furious.

‘My mole working near the dugouts tells me he stormed past Solskjaer when he came off, but quickly changed his mind about ignoring the manager and shook hands.

‘But make no mistake – he wasn’t happy and there’s trouble brewing there.’

Cavani has since spoken out his lack of game time in a chat with El Observador, and said: “In football, you have to always be ready. It’s one of the keys at the top level.

“Sometimes you play more, sometimes you play less, managers make decisions, but that doesn’t stop the work to always be competitive.

“The league has just started and I have needed to be, not quite like last year, but I’m there to be a part of it.”

Sir Alex Ferguson was critical of Solskjaer’s decision not to start Ronaldo after the game, but the Norwegian boss insisted he had no regrets at leaving out the Portugal star.

“You make decisions throughout a long, long season,” Solskjaer said.

“You have to manage the players’ workload and the decision for me was the correct one.

“Anthony Martial did well, scored a good goal. Edinson [Cavani] needed minutes and could have had a goal. We have to make those decisions at the time.”
