Man Utd offer ‘mega-money’ deal to £50m talent to stop Real Madrid from snatching him away

Man Utd are reportedly preparing to offer Alejandro Garnacho a ‘mega-money’ contract to keep him at the club amid reports linking him with Real Madrid.

Garnacho has been able to make a big impact since he made his senior debut for Man Utd back in April.

He cost United £420,000 when he joined the club from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and this is already proving to be a worthwhile investment.

Comparisons to Cristiano Ronaldo have already been made as the 18-year-old Argentinian winger has been trusted by Erik ten Hag this season.

The teenager has been accused of having attitude problems as Bruno Fernandes “threw him under the bus” earlier this season.

This has not deterred Garnacho though as he has put in star-making performances against Real Sociedad and Aston Villa.

Ten Hag recently encouraged Garnacho to “keep his feet on the ground”.

“There is still for him a long way to go. He has to keep his feet on the ground, the whole team now but him especially,” Ten Hag said last month.

“He has to do much more to impress because he will be recognisable for everyone. So it’s much more important that to confirm it and big players know that, young players don’t know.

“His energy is good and I am certain he will have an impact.”

His form has caught the eye of clubs around Europe and it has been reported that Real Madrid are interested in signing him.

Garnacho remains under contract until 2025 but Football Insider are reporting that Man Utd are ‘convinced they have a huge talent’ so they are ‘offering him a mega-money’ new deal.

Talks are already said to have ‘begun’ as Man Utd are looking to better Garnacho’s current contract terms.

The report notes that ‘elite rivals are lining up bids’ and United are ‘convinced that his value will rocket’.

It is added that the club’s hierarchy believe that Garnacho is ‘capable of being a £50million-plus star of the future’.

Another priority for United is to sort their goalkeeping situation out. David De Gea is currently their first-choice but his future is in doubt with him out of contract next year.

One ‘keeper they are tracking as a potential replacement is Borussia Monchengladbach’s Yann Sommer.

Sky Germany (via Sport Witness) are reporting that the Red Devils are ‘very interested’ in the shot-stopper.

Like De Gea, Sommer’s contract is up in 2023. A move in January is ‘not on the agenda’ with United seemingly waiting till they can get him for nothing in the summer.

‘There is a fear’ in Germany that Sommer is on his way to Man Utd and the player will decide whether he wants to stay at Gladbach in the coming weeks.
