Man Utd have had their latest offer for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat ‘rejected’ by the Serie A club, according to reports.

The Red Devils have already brought in Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan, while Rasmus Hojlund’s arrival in a £72m deal from Atalanta set to be confirmed over the weekend.

There are rumours that Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag still wants to bring in a midfielder and a centre-back before the end of the transfer window.

And Amrabat has emerged as their top target for the central midfield spot but the Red Devils will reportedly wait to seal a deal until Fred and Donny van de Beek leave the club.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport insists that Man Utd have had their ‘last offer’ for the Morocco international ‘rejected’ with Fiorentina now waiting for the Red Devils to ‘relaunch’ their bid to sign the midfielder.

A deal for Amrabat ‘remains pending’ after Ten Hag identified the 26-year-old as his top target and now Fiorentina are prepared for Man Utd to make a ‘decisive thrust’ soon.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Amrabat will only be pushed through when Van de Beek and Fred leave Old Trafford this summer.

Romano wrote on Twitter: “Sofyan Amrabat, not called up for next Fiorentina game. #MUFC Manchester United, expected to open formal talks for Amrabat soon as Fred and Donny Van de Beek are close to leaving the club. Amrabat wants Manchester United, this has never changed.”

Another midfielder Man Utd are reportedly interested in is Leon Goretzka at Bayern Munich and German publication Abend Zeitung claim that the Red Devils are ‘interested’ in the Germany international.

But Goretzka has not made a ‘specific request’ to be transferred this summer and he does not ‘want to have any talks with other clubs’ and is happy to ‘stay’ at the Allianz Arena.

The midfielder has ‘not received any signal’ that Thomas Tuchel is planning without him next season and he is ‘optimistic that he will ultimately prevail against newcomer Konrad Laimer’.

German football expert Christian Falk brought an update on Goretzka’s situation at the club earlier today.

Falk wrote in his Caught Offside column: “Sticking with Man United, the Premier League giants continue to pursue Leon Goretzka. However, Goretzka has made it clear that he wants to play at Bayern this season.

“Manager Thomas Tuchel does not rely on him heavily ahead of the new campaign, therefore, it is a transfer that could get hot again during the winter transfer window.

“Tuchel wants to buy a new number six ahead of the new season but the bosses at Bayern see no need. They think new signing Konrad Laimer can play the position.

“However, the club continues to monitor Aurelien Tchouameni’s situation at Real Madrid, in the hope that the player is open to a loan deal as a result of too much competition in the Madrid midfield.”
