Man Utd ‘offered’ £30m Tottenham star who has been given green light to reunite with Erik ten Hag
According to reports, Manchester United have been ‘offered the chance’ to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils have been busy in the transfer market this summer as they have brought in Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund and Jonny Evans.
They still have busy to do before the window closes and it is one of Erik ten Hag’s priorities to sign a new defensive midfielder who can support Brazil international Casemiro.
Man Utd have been heavily linked with Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat this summer, but they have been facing competition from Liverpool in the race to sign the Morocco international.
Amrabat has reportedly been ‘promised’ that he will end up at Man Utd before Friday’s transfer deadline but this saga has dragged on longer than most people anticipated it would.
United now have their eyes on alternatives and Hojbjerg has emerged as a potential shock signing. Earlier this week, The Telegraph reported that the Red Devils are ‘considering a surprise move’ for the midfielder. The report added.
‘It remains to be seen whether United progress talks although their manager Erik ten Hag has been urging them to sign another central midfielder. Ten Hag also knows Hojbjerg from the pair’s time at Bayern Munich together back in 2013.
‘However, it also appears that United need to raise funds through sales.’

Regarding Amrabat, the report continued: ‘Amrabat’s representatives have grown frustrated at the lack of progress and are considering their options. Fiorentina appear to have taken the decision not to play the 27-year-old Moroccan international until the transfer window has closed.
‘Atletico have also shown interest in Amrabat but he has made it clear he prefers a move to the Premier League.’
90min are now reporting that ‘Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign wantaway Tottenham midfielder Hojbjerg’ and the London outfit ‘would be allowed to leave this summer if they received an acceptable bid’.
Spurs agreed a £30m fee with Atletico Madrid for Hojbjerg earlier this summer but he remains on the market after this transfer ‘did not materialise’. The report later states.
‘United are among the clubs to have been contacted. The Red Devils are actively looking to strengthen in central areas and have been working on a deal for Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat.
‘Progress has been slow in negotiations though, despite Amrabat’s strong desire to join United, and United have also considered making a move for Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch, who is out of favour in Bavaria and unlikely to get many opportunites under Thomas Tuchel.
‘A move for Hojbjerg could be complicated by Spurs’ desire to sell rather than facilitate a loan.’
