Liverpool want Tchouameni

Manchester United have been given a boost to their hopes of signing Aurelian Tchouameni from Real Madrid as a report claims the Spanish giants are willing to ‘sacrifice’ the midfielder to sign Kylian Mbappe.

Tchouameni has been the subject of great transfer speculation this summer following Madrid’s signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.

Los Blancos are well stocked in central midfielder with Tchouameni and Bellingham vying with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde for a starting spot under Carlo Ancelotti.

By contrast, the forward areas are far more sparse, with the loan signing of former Stoke striker Joselu from Espanyol meaning they have just him and returning forward Brahim Diaz as options for a central role, with Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo their wide forwards.

Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool have all been linked with Tchouameni this summer, but the Gunners have been left out of the latest Nacional report, which claims United and Liverpool are the ‘two destinations’ for the France international, who is now surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu.

Madrid need to stump up funds to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Liverpool, who the report claims ‘could offer €250m’ for the striker.

Mbappe looks set to leave PSG this summer after he revealed he would not be signing a new contract, which led president Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he must therefore leave in the current window as he would not be allowed to leave for nothing when his deal expires in 2024.

‘Madrid can’t even dream of competing with Liverpool’ to pay the required amount for Mbappe without ‘significant sales’ and given their abundance of midfielders it makes sense that Tchouameni be the one put up for sale.

Signed for €80m from Monaco last summer, it’s claimed Madrid president Florentino Perez would be willing to sell Tchouameni for a fixed fee of €60m with a further €20m in add-ons.

That would be an attractive price for both Liverpool and Man Utd, who the report claims ‘would be willing to count on him’.

A ‘double sale’ hasn’t been ruled out with Valverde also thought to be among those Madrid would listen to offers for.
