Man Utd target Pavard
Man Utd and Inter Milan fight for Benjamin Pavard.

According to reports, Manchester United are willing to pay €40m to beat Inter Milan in the race to sign Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard.

The Red Devils have been busy this summer as they have spent significant fees to sign Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Man Utd are not finished there as they remain in the market for a new centre-back and centre-midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

Ahead of this summer, Man Utd were expected to sign a new defender who could replace Harry Maguire and compete alongside Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane for a starting birth.

Maguire has been pursued by West Ham United this summer and they agreed a £30m deal with Man Utd but this transfer has now fallen through.

Regarding potential replacements, Pavard has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and he is out of contract in 2024.

Italian outlets Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) have delivered their respective updates on Pavard’s situation.

Gazzetta are reporting that Pavard is in favour of a move to Inter Milan as he has turned his nose up at a ‘rich’ offer while ‘saying no’ to Man Utd.

Despite being given a green light from the player side, Inter Milan are yet to agree a fee with Bayern Munch as they are ‘€5m short’ of the German outfit’s asking price.

Corriere meanwhile are of the understanding that ‘Inter would prefer to only pay €30m if they can but United have let Bayern know that they have €40m ready to spend on Pavard if they can move Maguire on’.

While United seemingly have one eye on Pavard, they are also trying to beat Liverpool in the race to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

The Morocco international made a name for himself at last year’s World Cup as he helped them reach the semi-final stage.

Amrabat is under contract until 2024 but Fiorentina have the option to extend his deal until 2024. The club’s sporting director – Daniele Parde –  has indicated that they would be “delighted to let him go” this summer.

“If we find a solution that satisfies everyone, we’d be delighted to let him go. Otherwise, we’d be just as happy to keep him with us. He’s a strong player and a serious professional who cares about our shirt,” Prade said (relayed by Quotidiano.net).

Prade added: “And the last days of August are the hottest for summer negotiations.”
