Manchester United midfielder Fred is reportedly ‘really considering’ leaving the club this summer, amid interest from Fulham.

Erik ten Hag has set out to bolster his midfield this summer and it seems that the Brazilian is one player he is willing to let go.

It will be interesting to see if Fulham can get a deal done but they are not the only team with an interest in Fred.

Since arriving at Man Utd in 2018, Fred has made 213 appearances. In the process, he has scored 14 goals and made 19 assists.

With just a year remaining on his contract, it looks increasingly likely that he will be sold this summer.

Man Utd have already brought in Mason Mount and have a number of other midfield targets on their radar.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that Fred is open to departing Old Trafford in favour of more minutes elsewhere.

That is according to reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, who also claims that Fulham boss Marco Silva is a big fan of the 30-year-old.

Writing for CaughtOffsideRomano said:

“Fred has changed agents, and he’s really considering leaving the club.

“He wants to play more and he understands it’s going to be very difficult for him to do so at United, particularly with the recent signing of Mason Mount in midfield.

“Fulham and Saudi clubs have approached his new agents, but just they’re enquiring about conditions, no bid as of now.

“I think there are very good chances for Fred to leave, he’s prepared for something new and Man United see him leaving this summer.

“Fulham manager Marco Silva is a big fan of Fred so it’s a concrete possibility to try but Saudi clubs are exploring this one too.”

As mentioned, Mount is one player who would be ahead of Fred in the pecking order next season. But Man Utd might also be about to sign another player which would send him crashing further down.

That is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat. As noted by Football365, Ten Hag has ‘pinpointed’ the Morocco international as his next midfield signing.

Reports suggest Man Utd have already reached an agreement on personal terms with the defensive midfielder, so the only thing left to negotiate is a transfer fee.

The Red Devils do not have a huge amount of money to spend but Amrabat is available for just £20m this summer.

Last season, Amrabat made 29 solid Serie A appearances for Fiorentina and last year caught the attention of several clubs after impressing for Morocco during the World Cup.

But it now seems that Man Utd are leading the race for his signature. Therefore, he could prove to be an excellent replacement for Fred, who has a good chance of joining Fulham.
