Reported Man Utd target Sasa Kalajdzic during a match

Stuttgart and Austria striker Sasa Kalajdzic ‘wants’ to join Man Utd before the transfer window closes, according to reports.

The Red Devils have brought in Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen and Tyrell Malacia this summer.

Erik ten Hag’s first transfer window at Old Trafford has been a pretty miserable one.

He identified Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong as a top target shortly after replacing Ralf Rangnick.

Man Utd agreed a fee with Barca after weeks of negotiating but have been unable to convince the player to join the club, with Chelsea now hoping to sign him.

After losing at home to Brighton in their opening fixture of the season, the club’s hierarchy kicked their butt into gear by making a bid for Adrien Rabiot.

They eventually agreed a fee to bring in a new signing, but fans don’t seem to be keen on the French midfielder, nor were they keen on Marko Arnautovic, who Man Utd were bizarrely trying to sign.

As well as De Jong, Ten Hag has been hoping to sign Antony from his former club, Ajax.

The Eredivisie club don’t want to sell, however, and have told the Premier League club to cough up around £80million if they want to sign the Brazilian winger.

Understandably, Man Utd don’t like those terms and are more likely to pursue PSV’s Cody Gakpo, who is believed to be worth £40m.

In a summer full of rejection and doom and gloom, a player actually wants to move to Old Trafford. Who’d have thought it?!

According to Sky SportsKalajdzic ‘is one of several’ strikers the Red Devils are looking at and the Stuttgart man ‘wants’ the transfer.

The 25-year-old is out of contract next year, so the German club may be open to selling before the transfer window slams shut.

However, former Man Utd interim manager and current Austria boss Ralf Rangnick has said the player’s development would not be harmed if he stayed with his current team.

Ten Hag had previously targeted Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, but the Slovenian has agreed to join RB Leipzig in 2023.

The Dutch manager is short of options up front and may opt to start Cristiano Ronaldo – who wants to leave the club – against Brentford this weekend.

Anthony Martial was in contention to start against Brighton on the opening day of the campaign before he suffered an injury.
