Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been ‘hit with a shattering blow’ with Man Utd ‘eyeing a summer swoop’ for England forward Harry Kane.

The striker has been in stunning form for Spurs this season. He has been involved in 23 goals in his 28 Premier League appearances this term.

He has achieved this while Tottenham have been heavily criticised. The London outfit were unable to reach the latter stages in any cup competition and they have now slipped out of the Champions League places in the Premier League.

Antonio Conte was sacked last month and Kane has been told that he “has to leave” so he does not end up having “regrets”.

The Englishman is out of contract in 2024 and he is yet to agree a contract extension at Tottenham. He was previously targeted by Man City in 2021 but he is now attracting interest from Man Utd.

It has been indicated that Kane will cost as much as £100m this summer if Spurs decide to cash in so he does not leave on a free transfer next year.

Football Insider are reporting ‘Kane has told friends he won’t be signing a new Tottenham deal amid a backdrop of chaos at the club’.

He is said to be ‘reluctant to pen new terms’ and Man Utd are ‘eyeing a summer swoop for his services’.

The Red Devils are ‘desperate for a marquee striker signing’ this summer to ‘bolster their title bid’ under Erik ten Hag in 2023/24.

Ex-Man Utd player Louis Saha thinks Kane “could do fantastically” at his former club and they should “do whatever it takes” to sign him.

“If there were no limitations with budgets then I’d say Kylian Mbappe, but the realistic option for me is Harry Kane, 100%,” Saha told Betfred.

“He’s the best player in that position in the Premier League and he’s the best target in terms of a player who can easily adapt. There’s no debate about that.

“There are many talented players out there but the fact that Harry’s scored 204 Premier League goals already is proof that he could do fantastically at Manchester United in Erik ten Hag’s system. He’s certainly the player that would be top of my list.”

Saha added: “They should do whatever it takes to sign him because if you want to win the Premier League then Harry Kane can guarantee that you achieve that.

“Just look at the consistency of the guy and how he performs for Tottenham and England. He’s also won three Golden Boots in the last seven seasons, which once again highlights his consistency.

“It would be like Robin van Persie going to Manchester United and winning the title for them. He’s the missing piece for Manchester United.”
