Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Man Utd winger Daniel James never “disappeared” despite his lack of game time this season.

The Welshman was in brilliant form in patches last season as he grabbed three goals and six assists in 33 Premier League appearances.

However, he has been limited to just eight league matches this season for Man Utd as he’s struggled to win a starting role in Solskjaer’s side.

James was given consecutive starts against Real Sociedad and Newcastle United in the Red Devils’ last two fixtures and has repaid his manager’s faith by scoring a goal in each match, while also grabbing an assist against the Spanish side.

When asked by¬†BT Sport reporter Des Kelly why James had “disappeared” following a positive start to his time at Old Trafford, Solskjaer replied: “He never disappeared. He has been working hard behind the scenes and always been available.

“He is always a player you can use in different areas with his energy and pace.

“We work with him, we try to help everyone but of course Dan came from the Championship, he hit a few goals in the first games and it is bound to take some energy from you.

“He has knuckled down and really worked to get back to full fitness but maybe more so confidence, to believe in himself.”
