Manchester United and Tottenham are in talks over a £51million transfer for Lille star Boubakary Soumare, with Jose Mourinho an admirer.

The 20-year-old midfield enforcer is attracting interest from a host of top clubs, according to La Voix du Nord.

Real Madrid and Valencia have also held talks over a possible deal while Napoli reportedly opened discussions this week.

Lille want between £42.5m (€50m) and £51m (€60m) for Soumare, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract.

The Ligue 1 side would like the France Under-21 international to return on loan for the remainder of the season.

A transfer battle between Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and his former employers at Old Trafford looks to be on the cards.

Lille owner Gerard Lopez recently admitted Mourinho is keen on Soumare.

“Soumare? It is true that there are many interested,” he said.

“From Spain, from Italy… the interest of Jose Mourinho? I know he likes him very much, yes.

“There are five, six clubs that are interested in him.”
