Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United celebrates scoring their second goal with Fred of Manchester United during the Premier League match at Old Trafford, Manchester.

Manchester United midfielder Fred has provided an update on his future as Fulham remain interested in the Brazilian midfielder.

Fred has featured in 35 league matches under Erik ten Hag, although the majority of those appearances did come from the bench.

Fulham are said to be interested in a move for the 30-year-old this summer. With his contract set to expire in 2024, he could leave the club on the cheap.

The Brazilian midfielder is expected to sit down with Erik ten Hag soon and discuss his future at Old Trafford.

In the meantime, he has provided an update on where he stands at this point in time and what his future at the club currently looks like.

“I still don’t know, I have to talk with my family,” he told TNT Sports regarding his future.

“I still have one year left on my contract here. Now it’s holiday time and a good opportunity to rest. I’ll talk to my staff, to the club, and see what everyone’s decision is.”

“I do have to talk with Ten Hag as well; he’s the manager, and the conversation has to involve everyone. We have to see how next season will play out.

“I want to be important; I want to help the team, so we’ll see. But I’ve always been and still am very happy at Manchester United.”

Fred has been at the club since 2018 and has made over 200 appearances for United across all competitions.

However, his game time has been reduced this year under Ten Hag. As Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have tended to be the starting pair in the middle, Fred has often played a supporting role.

Along with this, Man United are expected to be in the market for a midfielder this summer too.

If the club do sign another holding midfielder, this could see Fred fall further down the pecking order.

Man United have been linked with the likes of Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and West Ham’s Declan Rice.

Along with this, they are also expected to add Chelsea’s Mason Mount to their squad, who is capable of playing in a number of different roles.

Ten Hag will carefully consider whether it is worth having Fred around for the foreseeable future and contract talks could soon take place.
