Man Utd submit ‘improved’ €50m offer for Ten Hag favourite after ‘errors’ forced drastic U-turn
Man Utd have reportedly made a new offer for Inter Milan and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana, who could replace David De Gea.
The Red Devils are in the market for a new goalkeeper and Onana has seemingly emerged as their preferred target.
The shot-stopper previously worked with Erik ten Hag at Ajax and he shone for Inter Milan during the 2022/23 campaign.
Onana is skilled with the ball at his feet and the same cannot be said for De Gea, who was exposed on several occasions last season.
De Gea is now out of contract and likely to leave Man Utd before next season. The Premier League giants had the option to extend his deal on the same terms until 2024 but they wanted him to take a pay cut.
It was revealed last week that the Spaniard put pen-to-paper over a new contract only for United to back out and offer him a deal with an even lower salary.
Man Utd are now pushing ahead with their pursuit of Onana and they have already had a £39m (€45.5m) offer rejected for the 27-year-old.
Now transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that ‘United have improved their bid for Onana’.

This new proposal is worth €50m with add-ons (around €5m) included. Romano claims ‘Inter Milan always asked for a €60m package — but sources believe €55m could be the right number to make it happen’.
Ten Hag has always backed De Gea publicly, but it was reported earlier this week by Manchester Evening News that ‘there was a shift in United’s position on De Gea towards the end of the season when he committed errors in the defeats to Sevilla, West Ham and Manchester City in the FA Cup final.’ They added.
‘The MEN revealed in May there were doubts over De Gea’s No.1 status at United next season and senior figures at the club want to move on from the Spaniard. United started exploring options to sign a new first-choice ‘keeper last month.
‘United monitored Bart Verbruggen but he completed a £16.3million transfer to Brighton this week.
‘Dean Henderson remains intent on leaving United and has been perplexed by suggestions he could stay when he is one of the club’s most sellable assets.
‘United sources say they need to talk to Henderson to gauge if he wants to stay or go but he has no intention of occupying a No.2 role.’
