Man Utd target ‘agrees’ to sign contract this week after being offered €7m deal by European giants
According to reports, France international Adrien Rabiot – who is being linked with Man Utd – has ‘agreed’ to stay with Juventus beyond this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Man Utd over the past year. He emerged as a potential target for the Premier League giants last summer after they failed to persuade Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong to sign for them.
Rabiot was available for a relatively low transfer fee as he is out of contract this summer but talks over a move to United reportedly broke down due to the player’s wage demands.
The 28-year-old stayed at Juventus and he enjoyed a fruitful season for the Serie A giants. He is often operated in defensive midfield, but he was used further forward in 2022/23 and he was involved in 17 goals across all competitions.
Rabiot continues to be linked with Man Utd following and he is reportedly viewed as a potential alternative to Chelsea star Mason Mount.
The Juventus midfielder is due to be out of contract this summer and many have anticipated that he will move on before next season. This is especially the case considering the Turin club’s difficult financial situation.
But Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport are now reporting that ‘Rabiot will sign a contract renewal with Juventus on Wednesday’ as the two parties have ‘reached an agreement’.
It is noted that Rabiot has been ‘examining all possible solutions’ but he has ‘finally decided to continue his adventure in Turin’.
Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri ‘pushed and pressed’ to keep Rabiot as the respected coach ‘wanted him badly’.
The report claims Rabiot has been ‘offered €7m’ per year and he was ‘eventually convinced’ and he has ‘chosen’ to remain at Juventus.
Spanish outlet Fichajes are meanwhile reporting Man Utd have been looking at Rabiot after a ‘direct order’ from Erik ten Hag.
But Juventus ‘recognise the importance’ of Rabiot. They do not go as far to say that an agreement has been reached over a new deal, but they are ‘looking for a renewal at the last minute’.
Earlier this year, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claimed that Rabiot “would love to play in England”.
“Rabiot could leave Juventus as a free agent in the summer, the Premier League is his biggest dream,” Romano revealed.
“He’d love to play in England, but he doesn’t have a favourite club, or at least not that I’m not aware of at the moment.”
