Man Utd centre-back target Pau Torres will reportedly decide on his future following the end of Spain’s Euro 2020 campaign.

Luis Enrique’s men set up a semi-final tie against Italy by beating Switzerland in St Petersburg.

Mikel Oyarzabal bagged the winning penalty following a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Torres is fully focused on Spain’s chances of winning their first major tournament since 2012.

According to Fabrizio Romano (via Express), he will therefore wait until its conclusion before thinking about his next move.

The Villarreal star, 24, has been heavily linked with Man Utd in recent months.

He’s a top target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the manager looks to find a partner for Harry Maguire.

Their other option is Raphael Varane of Real Madrid, who will provide more experience but less years of service.

Torres has impressed Man Utd scouts with a great season in Spain. He helped his boyhood club to finish seventh in La Liga by appearing in 33 of their 38 league games.

The defender’s worth to Villarreal is shown by the fact they lost three games in which he was a sub towards the end of the campaign.

Torres also featured in their Europa League triumph over the Red Devils. It ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with David De Gea going on to miss the decisive penalty.

The shootout victory handed Villarreal their first ever major trophy.

Torres has been asked about his future at almost every press conference while on international duty.

He played down the exit rumours last month, saying: “Right now I have a contract with Villarreal.

“We’ve won a European trophy. We’ve shown we can compete against any opponent. Next year we have the Champions League ahead of us, and that’s what I’m focused on.

“Those rumours mean that you’re doing a good job. I’m calm. Those rumours came out a while ago and I don’t think my performance has changed, it’s been good.”

The player has featured in all five of Spain’s Euro 2020 fixtures so far. However, they’ve looked shaky at the back at times.

They conceded three in the round of 16 against Croatia and were lucky to go through with two goals in extra-time.

Torres and Aymeric Laporte also collided against Switzerland, allowing Xherdan Shaqiri to equalise for the underdogs in the quarter-final.
