Man Utd target Perisic set to sign new deal with huge release clause

Ivan Perisic is set to sign a new deal at Inter Milan, with a huge release clause to warn off interest from Manchester United.

Tuttosport claim that Perisic will pen a new deal with the Nerazzurri which will make him the second highest paid player, behind striker Mauro Icardi.

It’s understood that Perisic will receive a salary increase that will see him earn €4.7m net-per season and only Icardi’s €450,000-a-year image rights and the fact that he will receive a further 10 per-cent increase should Inter qualify for next season’s Champions League, will keep him above Perisic at the San Siro.

Inter will also add a €70million release clause in the player’s contract to keep him away from the clutches of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

There have also been claims from Italy that his new deal will contain an anti-Man Utd clause, preventing the Premier League giants from buying the Croatian.

United were pursuing the 28-year-old wideman since March last year, when Mourinho flew to Zagreb in the international break to broker a deal for him.

United had one offer, believed to be £35million, rejected by Inter and were determined to hold out for their £48million valuation.

However, United never upped their bid and despite plenty of conjecture surrounding the potential deal and Mourinho last month accepted he won’t be bringing the player to Old Trafford.

“That’s football,” Mourinho said when asked why United had failed to capture the winger.

“If I was playing against Inter tomorrow I’d want to win.

“They’re strong, they put up a good defence to keep someone who’s an important player for them. That’s football.”

Inter Milan’s sporting director Piero Ausilio also admitted a new deal for Perisic, who they now value a lot higher, was under discussion.

“The same goes for Perisic, who is an important player and we are currently discussing a new contract with him,” said Ausilio last month.
