Erik ten Hag has told Andre Onana that Man Utd ‘will do everything’ they can to sign him this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Cameroon international is seen as the perfect replacement if David de Gea decides not to take the Red Devils up on their latest offer of a new contract.

De Gea reportedly agreed to sign a £200k-a-week contract before Man Utd took the deal off the table and offered him another contract for even less money.

The Spaniard is now understood to be considering his options after his contract at Old Trafford expired on June 30 with an offer from Saudi Arabia reportedly also on the table.

However, with a budget of just £120m this summer, Man Utd could struggle to sign a top goalkeeper at the same time as looking for a world-class centre-forward.

A report earlier today claimed that the Premier League side had decided to leave negotiations with Inter over a deal for Onana as they couldn’t afford their £50m asking price for the player.

However, contrary to those reports in England, Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport now insists that Ten Hag has now ‘reassured’ Onana that the club ‘will do everything’ to sign him this summer.

They even claim that Man Utd could launch their ‘first offer’ early this week and that ‘news from Manchester is expected’ today as the Red Devils maintain their interest.

Man Utd have had a £30m offer rejected for Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund as they look to solve their striker shortage with the Red Devils set to bid again for £40m.

Another player on their list of potential striker targets is Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos but the stumbling block could be the Portuguese side’s €80m (£69m) asking price.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola claim that there is an unnamed club willing to pay €60m for Ramos this summer with Man Utd and Paris Saint-Germain known to be interested.

It is understood that Man Utd will ‘evaluate the possibility of advancing with a concrete offer’ with Ten Hag understood to be an admirer of the striker.

The newspaper describes Ramos as one of ‘many options’ for the Red Devils this summer with links to Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Atalanta’s Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani.
