Manchester United are ‘ready to welcome’ Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Saturday that the Red Devils had agreed to pay Atalanta around €70million (£60million) with add-ons to sign Hojlund, who joined the Serie A outfit for £14.7m last summer.

David Ornstein, meanwhile, has reported that United will pay €75m plus €10m in add-ons.

Although the 20-year-old striker has a bag full of potential, Atalanta will be laughing all the way to the bank after making such a swift profit.

Romano has since added that the two clubs are preparing to “exchange documents” in the next day or two with Hojlund ready to sign a five-year contract with the option for a further year.

“Manchester United will start preparing documents and paperwork today in order to get Rasmus Hojlund deal signed and sealed early next week,” Romano said on Sunday morning.

“Hojlund already spoke more than three times to Erik ten Hag and he’s ready to sign until June 2028 plus option until 2029.”

United manager Erik ten Hag will be delighted with his summer business so far.

He has secured a new striker, goalkeeper and attacking midfielder, which is exactly where he needed to address his squad going into the transfer window.

Despite reportedly going into the window with a budget of £100m, the Red Devils are not done yet.

They remain strongly linked with Fiorentina and Morocco midfielder Amrabat, who helped his nation reach the semi-final of the 2022 World Cup.

Sport Italia reported on Thursday that Amrabat is ‘one step away’ from moving to Old Trafford and now Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) say the Premier League giants are ‘ready to welcome’ the player.

The Italian outlet claim both Amrabat and Hojlund have ‘packed their bags’ to leave Italy for England.

United apparently have an agreement with Amrabat, though they are yet to agree a fee with Fiorentina.

They want €30m for the Moroccan international but the Red Devils feel confident they can drive the price down to €22m plus bonuses.

Amrabat would likely come in to provide competition for Casemiro, rather than play alongside the Brazilian.

Both players are quite similar. Their game is to break up play and essentially be a destroyer in the midfield, and having two of those in the same XI would make any side solid defensively, but would not offer too much going forward, leaving too much playmaking burden on whoever is in the No. 10 role.
