Man Utd need three transfers before ‘striking blow’ for Liverpool target with opening bid ‘far from’ demands
Man Utd will need to sell three of their players before they can make an acceptable bid for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, according to reports.
The Red Devils brought in Mason Mount as their first summer signing earlier this month with the England international signing for £55m from Chelsea.
Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana is flying in today to complete his €55m (£47.7m) move after number one goalkeeper David de Gea left the club on a free transfer.
A new striker is their next target with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund now the Red Devils’ priority and The Athletic have revealed that Man Utd have ‘agreed preliminary personal terms’ with the Dane.
There remains a gap between Man Utd and Atalanta’s valuations of Hojlund but the 20-year-old has already ‘asked to leave’ the Serie A club, something which the Premier League club can use in their favour.
After Hojlund there is unlikely to be money left for new signings unless Erik ten Hag can raise funds by selling his squad and fringe players.

Ten Hag wants another midfielder with Fiorentina’s Amrabat thought to be one player he’s keen on but reports claim Man Utd are currently unwilling to meet Viola’s €30m asking price.
Italian publication Corriere dello Sport said yesterday that Man Utd had lodged their first offer for Amrabat but that their opening gambit is ‘far from’ Fiorentina’s demands for the Moroccan.
And now another Italian newspaper, Il Tirreno, claims that Ten Hag has put Amrabat ‘top’ of his ‘priority list’ for midfielders this summer ‘but so far he has never knocked on Fiorentina’s door with an offer capable of tickling the attention’.
It is understood that ‘at least €30m’ will be needed to prise Amrabat away from Florence despite the 26-year-old’s ‘willingness to embrace new horizons’ this summer.
Il Tirreno add that ‘time will be needed’ over a potential deal with Man Utd ‘waiting for offers’ for Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek before they can launch a proper assault for Amrabat.
Those three sales will give them ‘the necessary liquidity’ to ‘try to strike the blow’ for the Morocco international with Liverpool also mooted as a potential destination.
Despite acknowledging interest from Liverpool, the report adds that ‘no concrete signs have arrived’ from Merseyside from Amrabat just yet.
