Man Utd ask about midfielder who has already ‘agreed’ to join Arsenal after Bayern reject bid
Premier League side Man Utd have made an enquiry about the availability of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to reports.
The Red Devils have been stung by the news that Christian Eriksen could be out until May after he picked up an injury during United’s 3-1 victory over Reading in the FA Cup at the weekend.
That has led to speculation that Man Utd will now sign a new midfielder before the transfer deadline tonight with numerous names already floating about.
The main option seems to be Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano providing his latest update on Twitter.
Romano wrote: “Marcel Sabitzer has told Manchester United through his agents that he’d be more than happy to join the club and Erik ten Hag’s project. #MUFC Bayern and Man Utd, in contact to discuss terms of the deal with just 9 hours left. Sabitzer didn’t train today.”
That has been backed up by numerous reports but The Independent have brought us more names that Man Utd are interested in.
Bayern Munich are ‘open to allowing’ Sabitzer get more game time at Man Utd but the Bundesliga outfit ‘were reluctant to allow United a loan deal for Ryan Gravenberch’.
Gravenberch played under Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax and is yet to make a start for Bayern in the Bundesliga this campaign.
And Romano recently claimed that the player is disappointed that he won’t be allowed to leave Munich in January to get more game time.
Romano told United Stand on YouTube: “Bayern Munich want to keep Ryan Gravenberch.
“There was a bit of disappointment on the player’s side, after being told he’d start, but remained on the bench in a recent game. An exit [for Gravenberch] is not imminent.”
The Independent add that Man Utd have also ‘enquired with Leicester about a potential loan move for Youri Tielemans, but the expected fee involved has been deemed too high by the Manchester club.’
Tielemans has been a long-term target for Arsenal with the current Premier League leaders striking ‘a verbal agreement over personal terms’ with rumours the Gunners could wait until the summer to bring him to the Emirates Stadium on a free transfer.
