Man Utd told to save striker ‘wasting’ his career with £90m summer raid on Tottenham – ‘perfect move’

Man Utd have been encouraged to make a move for Harry Kane as the England international is currently “wasting” his career at Tottenham Hotspur.

The forward has been in stunning form this season as he has scored 17 goals in 22 appearances in the Premier League.

Kane has consistently been linked with a move to Man Utd over the past few years and a transfer is possible in the summer as his current contract at Tottenham is due to expire in 2024.

The 29-year-old was targeted by Man City in 2021 after he proclaimed that he was looking to leave Spurs to maximise his chances of winning team trophies before he retires.

But he now looks more content at Tottenham, with Antonio Conte helping him get back to his best. It is even being reported that he would be ‘open’ to staying at the club beyond the end of his current deal in 2024.

Ex-Premier League forward Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Kane would be foolish to remain at Tottenham, though.

He has argued that the Golden Boot is the “best thing he’s going to win” as long as he remains at the club.

“To be honest, Spurs are wasting everyone’s time with holding on to Harry Kane. They are wasting these players’ career opportunities. Let someone take them and let them shine. Harry Kane will probably win a Golden Boot at Spurs. That’s the best he’s going to win there,” Agbonlahor told Grosvenor Sport.

“They’re not going to win a trophy. It’s like they’ve been doomed where any manager comes in won’t win them anything. So why not get £90m for him while you can, and while he’s still young enough?”

Agbonlahor believes Man Utd should pay “whatever it takes” to sign the forward and that a move to Old Trafford would be “perfect” for Kane this summer.

“If I were Man United this summer, I’d drive down to Tottenham and say we will pay whatever it takes for Harry Kane. It might cost £90m for a 30-year-old but I think Harry Kane the sort of player who will play until he’s 37/38,” Agbonlahor added.

“They need a 9/10 striker, that’s what Manchester United have done for years. They went and got Berbatov when he was at Spurs. We’re Man United. Whatever you need, Daniel Levy, we’re taking him off your hands.

“It’s the perfect move for Harry Kane, he gets Champions League football next season. He’s still on course for Alan Shearer’s record in the Premier League too, so he doesn’t want to go to Bayern Munich or somewhere.

“It’s honestly the perfect move for everyone.”
