Manchester United will make an official offer for Liverpool target Sofyan Amrabat in the next 48 hours, according to reports.

The Fiorentina midfielder caught the eye of a number of clubs at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with Morocco reaching the semi-finals of the tournament.

His performances for club and country have seen Amrabat linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world with rumours that Liverpool and Man Utd are battling for his signature.

A report in Spain over the weekend claimed that Liverpool are now ‘very close’ to signing the 26-year-old and that Amrabat ‘already has an agreement’ with the Reds.

That came after a story on Friday insisted that Jurgen Klopp had ‘called’ Amrabat in an effort to persuade the Moroccan that a move to Anfield would be best for him.

Man Utd have been linked with the Fiorentina midfielder for months and one report insists they’ve not made a concrete bid yet because they are trying to ‘lower the price’ as the transfer deadline approaches.

And now Italian publication La Nazione (Viola News) claims that an official offer ‘will arrive’ in the next 48 hours from Man Utd as they prepare their ‘long-awaited’ offer for the midfielder.

Fiorentina are only asking for between €25m and €30m for Amrabat with the former Club Brugge midfielder only having a year left on his contract at the Serie A side.

The Italian club’s CEO Joe Barone has opened the door for Amrabat to leave this summer by claiming anyone can leave if they aren’t “happy” at the club.

Barone said: “We are always ready for other entries and exits. If there is someone who’s not happy, we can satisfy them by the end of the market.”

It has become obvious watching Man United’s first couple of Premier League matches this season that they need a new midfielder with former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claiming a deal for Amrabat “makes sense”.

“Man United may need to search for a replacement,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“These are guys that want to go forward and attack, and they’ve probably been given licence to.

“But Because of this, Casemiro will get you left exposed at times and does he have the legs of these kind of younger defensive midfielders to get about for 90 minutes Constantly?

“He would also have to do this week in and week out, which is tough on him.

“It could be a situation where Man United search for a replacement similar before the transfer window closes. The Ambrabat deal makes sense and I can see that happening before the window shuts.”
