Man Utd winger Anthony Elanga has rejected the chance to sign for Everton in a blow to Erik ten Hag’s transfer budget, according to reports.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to raise as much as £100m to add to their transfer budget by selling a number of fringe and squad players.

Elanga, who came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford after moving to Manchester from Sweden as a kid, is one player Ten Hag sees as dispensable.

The Sweden international, who has 12 caps and three goals for his country, has been attracting interest from Premier League sides Everton and Nottingham Forest this summer.

However, the Daily Mail now claim that Elanga has pulled out of a potential transfer to Goodison Park over fears he wouldn’t fit into Sean Dyche’s tactical plans.

A journalist in the Daily Mail wrote: ‘Everton held direct talks with Elanga but the player has ruled out a move amid concerns over his suitability to Dyche’s tactics.’

Harry Maguire, Fred, Scott McTominay and others are also among the players linked with moves away from Old Trafford this summer – but so far Man Utd have raised just €1m from the sale of Zidan Iqbal to FC Utrecht.

Man Utd have already signed Mason Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan with expectations building that they will add Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund to their ranks too.

Another midfielder is also a target for Ten Hag but any deal is understood to be dependent on outgoings with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat a reported target.

A report in 90min has claimed that Man Utd have ‘held talks’ with Amrabat’s representatives and that the Morocco international is ‘among the names on United’s wish list’.

The Red Devils made contact with Amrabat’s representatives to ‘figure out the terms of any potential deal’ with the hope they could get him on the cheap as he enters the final year of his contract.

Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone has also had his say on a potential deal with the Viola chief insisting there has been no “official” offers.

“He [Amrabat] is also very attached to the team and to me too, we speak in English and we talk almost every day,” Barone told Sky Sport Italy. “At the moment nothing official has arrived, I told him to come here concentrated because he is a Fiorentina player.

“He must have his head here and be ready for the start of the league, then if something comes we’ll evaluate it. We have an already very strong midfield department.”
