According to reports, Turkish outfit Fenerbahce have submitted a €15m bid for Manchester United and Brazil centre-midfielder Fred.

The Red Devils have spent around £160m this summer to sign Rasmus Hojlund, Mason Mount and Andre Onana.

They are not finished here, though. They remain in the market for another new midfielder and they are being heavily linked with Fiorentina and Morocco standout Sofyan Amrabat.

The 26-year-old has been linked with clubs around Europe after he shone for Morocco at last year’s World Cup.

Man Utd face competition for Amrabat and it has been claimed that the midfielder favours a move to La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid.

The Premier League giants need to let players leave before they can step up their interest in Amrabat, but it is expected that Fred and Donny van de Beek will move on in the coming weeks.

Erik ten Hag has made it clear that he prefers Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Mount in midfield so this has left Fred and Van de Beek surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday afternoon that “Fenerbahce have submitted an official bid to Manchester United for Fred”.

The “total package” on the table (including add-ons) is €15m and “negotiations are ongoing on both club and player side with Fenerbahce trying to complete this top signing soon”.

Romano later added: “Manchester United plan remains clear: sell Fred with Fenerbahce bid now on the table, agree loan deal for Donny van de Beek with Real Sociedad and sign new midfielder.”

“There’s 3 players list in the midfield with Sofyan Amrabat on top, he’s still waiting for United.”

Earlier this week, Romano indicated that Man Utd “will be busy with many deals” in the coming weeks.

“Today and in the next days, Man United will be busy with many deals. Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay; West Ham’s opening bid was rejected, but United will stay in contact,” Romano explained.

He added: “Fred will 100 percent leave Manchester United this summer. We know he’s out of contract in 2024, I told you a long time ago and I keep saying now, there is a conversation with many clubs. I will keep you posted, but Fred is leaving.

“There is an ongoing conversation between United and Real Sociedad for Donny van de Beek. Still no agreement, but the two clubs are speaking because the player is keen on the move. It’s crucial to understand what kind of formula they will find for this deal as Sociedad want a loan with a buy option clause.”
