Man Utd target Hojlund

According to reports, Man Utd are ‘very likely’ to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A outfit Atalanta during this summer’s transfer window.

The 20-year-old signed for Atalanta from Sturm Graz last year and he enjoyed a breakout season for the Italian side during the 2022/23 campaign.

Hojlund grabbed 16 goals and seven assists in his 42 appearances across all competitions and his performances caught the attention of Man Utd. He has also scored five goals in his first four senior appearances for Denmark.

The Red Devils are reportedly looking to sign two strikers this summer. They are said to be targeting an elite forward and an up-and-coming attacker, with Hojlund and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane among their preferred targets.

Chelsea are also keen to strengthen in attacking areas and they are understood to be interested in Hojlund. It has been indicated that he could cost around 6om this summer.

Now Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Hojlund “is the first name on the list” for Man Utd as Erik ten Hag looks for a “talented young player with a future”. He adds that the Premier League giants are “very likely” to sign him.

“Manchester United have been scouting him and his agents are close to the people at Manchester United,” Di Marzio told Sportbonuskode.

“He’s a top young player and he’s on Manchester United’s list. If Manchester United wants a talented young player with a future Hojlund is the first name on the list.

“Hojlund is an investment for the future. The signing right now depends on whether Man United can get Victor Osimhen. If they can’t get Osimhen, Rasmus Hojlund could very likely be their investment for the future.”

Last week, it was reported that Ten Hag has already had a ‘video call’ with Hojlund with the view to signing the Atalanta starlet this summer.

This has been refuted by Hojlund, though. He says “there has been no video call” but he indicated that he would be open to a move to Man Utd by admitting that his goal is to “reach the top shelf”.

“There has been no video call,” Hojlund told Danish outlet Berlingske. “I can’t say anything about that.

“It’s a huge club, so I must have done something right if it says they want me. My goal is to reach the top shelf, and you can say that Manchester United is. So it will be huge.”
