Man Utd ‘want transfer fee’ for player set to leave in summer

Man Utd are reportedly keen to obtain a transfer fee for Jesse Lingard, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.
Lingard has not started a Premier League game for the Red Devils in almost two years, falling out of favour under ex-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The England international joined West Ham on loan in January 2021, enjoying a terrific spell at the London Stadium during the second half of last season.
Six reasons a Premier League game has been abandoned
After scoring nine and assisting five in 16 league matches for the Hammers, Lingard returned to Old Trafford to fight for his place under Solskjaer.
Chances have been few and far between for the 28-year-old, with it now being reported that he has no intention of signing a contract extension.
However, the sacking of Solskjaer and appointment of Ralf Rangnick as interim boss sparked rumours that Lingard was optimistic about his chances of playing more frequently this season.
According to Manchester Evening News, Lingard is keen to see out his Man Utd contract and will not leave the club in the winter transfer window.
The report adds that the Red Devils would prefer to receive a transfer fee in January, as opposed to losing the attacking midfielder for nothing in the summer.
As well as Lingard, Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata are out of contract at the end of the season.
According to The Athletic, United are eyeing up a move for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara as they search for potential Pogba replacements.
It is understood that the Red Devils are ‘across the situation as they weigh up possibilities to bolster their midfield’ with Kamara also available on a free in the summer.
The former France under-21 international has played 126 matches for Marseille over five years with the midfielder now ‘generating plenty of interest across Europe’.
‘More recent attempts were deemed too late’ and the report adds that Kamara ‘has now opted to leave as a free agent at the end of the season’ with the 22-year-old ready for a ‘new challenge outside of France’.
