Man Utd youngster Facundo Pellistri is reportedly being targeted by Spanish side Celta Vigo.

The 19-year-old joined the Red Devils in October from Uruguayan outfit Penarol.

He is yet to make his Premier League debut and is currently playing with the club’s second team.

According to The Athletic, Man Utd want to send Pellistri on loan during the January transfer window.

They want him to gain more first team experience before returning as an improved player in the summer.

The report states that Celta Vigo are interested in taking Pellistri on loan for the remainder of the season.

He is also being targeted by Championship teams, but United officials think the style of play won’t suit the winger.

Celta Vigo could be an ideal location as Spanish is the player’s mother tongue.

If that move fails, then Ligue 1 side Lyon might be willing to take the player on loan.

They expressed an interest in Pellistri while he was still at Penarol.

Despite Pellistri not being near the United first team, he is certainly a player to watch for the future.

Penarol’s academy is highly thought of in South America. It has produced fellow wonderkid Darwin Nunez and Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.

Pellistri has scored two goals in the Premier League 2 division during his time in England so far.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was expected to give Pellistri his debut earlier this season.

Asked in December about the player’s chances, Solskjaer said: “Facundo has come in and trained with the first-team, he’s done well.

“We felt now is time for him to get game time. He played a couple of games in reserves, gradually settled in nicely and is more used to us.”
