Man Utd’s ‘history and mystique’ a pull for €70m Liverpool target

A report in Portugal suggests that a move to Manchester United is more tempting for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes than a transfer to Tottenham and Liverpool.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking for midfield reinforcements and the Portuguese playmaker fits the bill at Old Trafford.

According to the Record on Wednesday, the player’s agent has held talks with Sporting over his client’s future and is apparently set on taking his client to United.

Correio da Manhã (via Sport Witness) have been absolutely relentless over the last week or so in their reporting of Fernandes, ever since they claimed there was a €45million offer on the table from Liverpool.

Both the Red Devils and Tottenham have reportedly made offers for Fernandes during agent Miguel Pinho’s trip to England, but they fell ‘below the €70m’ Sporting were asking for – while both the sides have proposed ‘identical’ personal terms.

However, it is the ‘history and mystique’ of United that is enticing for the Portugal international, according to Correio da Manhã.
