Managerial target has ‘illustrious offer’ on the table from Man Utd

Erik ten Hag has an ‘illustrious offer’ on the table from Man Utd with Ralf Rangnick set to ‘entrust’ the Ajax boss with the managerial role at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are looking to replace interim manager Rangnick in the summer and Ten Hag, alongside Mauricio Pochettino, are the reported top targets for the vacancy.
Manchester United need Ten Hag and 14 new players
Rangnick will step into a two-year consultancy role at the end of the season and will play a part in selecting the club’s new manager.
Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has also appeared as a potential target as a result of the ongoing crisis at Stamford Bridge.
Ten Hag has been in charge of Ajax since the end of 2017 and has guided the Eredivisie club to two league titles and two Dutch Cups.
De Godenzonen were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday after losing 3-2 on aggregate to Benfica.
Despite this, the Red Devils won’t be put off, and Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claim that Ten Hag could join the Premier League club in the summer.
They say that the Dutchman has an ‘illustrious offer’ on the table from Man Utd, with Rangnick wanting to ‘entrust’ him with the Old Trafford hot seat.
Ten Hag is said to be ‘one of the most requested managers’ in Europe and it is claimed that he has ‘contingencies’ between himself and Ajax that could allow him to leave the club before his contract expires in 2023.
Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has warned Man Utd over a move for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
After being knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid, Owen Hargreaves claimed Bellingham would be a player Man Utd should look to sign in the summer, but Ferdinand warned the club’s problems will not be solved by new signings.
“I don’t necessarily think it’s about who you sign, though,” he told BT Sport. “I was screaming at the start of the season ‘oh we’ve got [Cristiano] Ronaldo, we’ve got [Raphael] Varane now’. Big players.
“If the culture at the football club isn’t right, it doesn’t matter who you bring in. You need a manager that can guide the ship, and United don’t have that at the moment.”
