Manchester City will not stand in the way of 19-year-old Jayden Braaf if he wishes to leave the club in January, according to reports.

Braaf, a talented winger, joined City’s academy in 2018 and was named the U23 Player of the Year in 2020.

He joined Udinese on loan last season but suffered knee ligament damage after making just four appearances for the club, who therefore decided not to take up the option of a £9m permanent deal.

Liverpool, Man Utd have blown bigger New Year leads than City

According to Manchester Evening News, City are prepared to sanction a departure for the Dutchman, who has grown frustrated with his lack of opportunities at the club.

Braaf is eager to kickstart his career and could do so abroad, much like Jadon Sancho. Sancho moved to Borussia Dortmund in 2017 after City were unable to offer him a pathway into the first team.

He is now one of Manchester United’s most expensive signings of all time after flourishing in Germany.

Elsewhere at City, Pep Guardiola has praised his players for their resilience in the 1-0 win at Brentford.

Reflecting on a hard-fought victory, Pep felt City coped well with the threat posed by the Bees at set-pieces.

“This was the best performance we could play,” he told the official club website.

“It was so intelligent because they are the best team in the Premier League on set-pieces (as they showed) with the chance they had on the first corner.

“The second half was much, much better. We played the game in this stadium, against this team how it must be played.

“The quality of the players made the difference. It’s a good victory. Now we recover as much as possible because at 12.30 on 1 January we have another game.”

On the title race, he added: “Thank you for the nice words because we win, but I am not going to believe you if you say it is already done.

“Chelsea and Liverpool are more than exceptional.

“One is the champion of Europe and Liverpool have been our big rival in recent years. 54 points still to play and every game we are just thinking the next game we have.

“Unfortunately we have to come back soon to London and play at 12:30 and go with a good intention.”
