Manchester City are reportedly close to signing Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.

City have struggled at the back this season following the departure of Vincent Kompany in the summer and the long-term injury suffered by Aymeric Laporte.

Pep Guardiola’s side have fallen 16 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race and the City boss has admitted they will need defensive reinforcements at some point.

The likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, Nathan Ake and Caglar Soyuncu have all been heavily speculated and the latest name to be linked is Inter’s Skriniar.

The 24-year-old is one of Europe’s most highly rated defenders and El Desmarque reports that City ‘would be willing to pay €95million (£80m)’ to sign him.

It’s claimed that the Slovakian is ‘very close to securing his future’ in Manchester.

Although the report also claims it is not yet decided if Skriniar will arrive in January or the summer.
