Manchester United are reportedly still interested in Kalidou Koulibaly after they had a €100m bid rejected by Napoli last year, despite the Senegalese defender having a relatively poor season for the Serie A outfit.

His inconsistent performances and injury problems has led to a price drop, with many clubs’ interest dwindling somewhat.

But according to Gazzetta dello Sport, as per Sport Witness, Manchester United remain one of the parties keen on the 28-year-old, alongside Everton and Bayern Munich.

It appears the decision to reject the bid last year, which made sense at the time, has now come back to bite Aurelio de Laurentiis somewhat, who is now hoping the defender, once he’s back from his current thigh injury, can return to his best between now and the end of the season to get his value back up.

Manchester United are reportedly ‘remaining vigilant’ on the Senegalese and his situation, which will thrill the Napoli owner, with Gazzetta explaining that ‘if a bidding war is created, the happier De Laurentiis will be’.
