Manchester United could make an offer for Chelsea forward Joao Felix in the summer transfer window, according to reports in Spain.

The Portugal international is currently on loan at Stamford Bridge from La Liga side Atletico Madrid with the 23-year-old impressing in his short spell in west London.

Felix has scored two goals so far in nine appearances at Chelsea but he has showed glimpses of what he can do ahead of a potential permanent move in the summer.

There have been rumours that Felix would be open to staying at Chelsea and that the Blues would be happy to see him stay if he can keep up his current form.

However, Atletico Madrid’s asking price could be a stumbling block with reports they could ask potential suitors for as much as £100m in the summer.

And now Spanish publication AS claim that Man United are seriously considering making an offer for Felix in the summer as they look to boost their attacking options.

Man Utd are currently relying on Marcus Rashford for goals after Cristiano Ronaldo left the club in November with injury-prone Anthony Martial and on-loan Wout Weghorst unlikely to be part of their long-term plans.

But former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has been urging the Blues to sign Felix on a permanent deal as he’s that creative spark Graham Potter’s side needs.

“Joao Felix is a great player,” Leboeuf told ESPN when asked if Chelsea should sign the Portuguese star on a permanent basis.

“I think he’s the most dangerous player, the most entertaining player, the most artistic player at Chelsea right now. He’s been pretty consistent too, almost every game he creates something.

“Hopefully Chelsea will be able to sell a few players – maybe Pulisic and Mount – and can then get Felix on a permanent.

“It would be a lot of money, that’s the only worry for the owners. But in terms of a football player, I would sign him.”

Speaking last month Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez also revealed that he’d like to see Felix stay, he said: “When you get on with someone off the field it helps on the field to have that special connection.

“He’s a great player, isn’t he? A fantastic player. He’s got lots of ability and loads of qualities.

“He’s a key player for us, an important player and he’s on loan. Let’s hope that Chelsea can do all they can to keep hold of him come June, that would be great.”
