Manchester United sees solid return on Zlatan Ibrahimović deal

Love them or love to hate them, Manchester United dominates the professional soccer arena. They’re one of the best clubs at acquiring big names in the sport that generate plays and ticket sales. This season, Swedish soccer superstar, Zlatan Ibrahimović came on board and the team is reaping the benefits of his flashy style and unstoppable presence on the field.

Zlatan is the Madonna of soccer – he is a man that needs only one name and that name strikes fear in the hearts of opponents across the league. Fear isn’t all Zlatan strikes, however. He is a leading scorer who has been regularly compared to greats like Ronaldo and Messi.

Who Is Zlatan?

I submit that anyone can find something to like in Ibrahimović. He is the star of not only the turf, but also internet memes. Think Chuck Norris and you’ll be close to the storybook hero quality soccer fans lavish on this exciting athlete.

I think Zlatan’s appeal is two fold. For starters, he is the Jason Bourne of the sport. Nearly any situation Zlatan finds himself in, he will do whatever is necessary to convert the play. Add his epic ego into the mix and it’s a dream for any franchise.

He isn’t without controversy, however. He eats reporters for breakfast and isn’t above a friendly assault on fellow players, even when they’re on his team. He’s done battle with a few coaches in his day and the referees don’t fare much better. Whether Zlatan is a dream or a nightmare depends largely on your perspective!

He is a towering figure of a striker, covered in tattoos and rocking a man bun long before hipsters everywhere picked up the trend. He is a blend of style and substance, however, considered one of the best strikers in the league.

It’s Zlatan’s world and we’re just living in it.

Manchester United Courts and Signs Zlatan

Zlatan recently left Paris St. Germain to play for Manchester United. He also announced that he was done playing for the Swedish national team. Man U secured Zlatan on a one year contract that reportedly pays him £200,000 per week.

As talk of the deal swirled around in sports circles, fans were excited at the prospect of what some journalists called a pending revolution for the Man U franchise. Coach Jose Mourinho and Zlatan spent some time together during Zlatan’s stint in Milan, and both appeared to be looking forward to joining forces again.

It hasn’t always been a smooth road for the pair, however they seem to have a genuine respect and appreciation for each other that is, itself, extraordinary. Does this help fuel the current success of Man U? That’s likely!

Since the start of his run with Manchester United, Zlatan has shown a positive return on the investment for Man U. He scored five goals in his first 10 games and shows no sign of stopping. Fan reaction is positive, which is probably a no brainer.

Zlatan In India?

Reports are emerging indicating that the Indian team Delhi Dynamos are set to make a play for Zlatan for next season. Zlatan loves the rumor mill, and the details and any confirmation of this situation are yet to come.

Will Man U let this titan of a player go? Will Zlatan help the Dynamos ascend to international fame? It all remains to be seen. The Indian team does have its sights set on the Swedish star, that much is for sure.

Manchester United

Manchester United Football Club is based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, England. They play in the Premier League and have a history that dates back to 1878 when the organization was founded as the Newton Heath LYR Football Club. The team donned the name Manchester United in 1902.

It’s been an impressive run since then. Man U has 20 league titles to their credit. Additionally, they hold a joint record 12 FA Cup wins. Four League Cups, 21 FA Community Shields and three European Cup victories further establish the franchise as a major force.

In fact, in the 1998-99 season, Manchester United gained notoriety as the first English football team to achieve a treble. They won the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the UEFA Champions League trophies.

The team has received some criticism for steadily climbing ticket prices that edge out blue collar working class fans. They are seen by some as a boutique team with a large purse that allows them to put together dream team type lineups year after year.
