Man United to spend £1m on League One teenager
Manchester United will sign Rochdale midfielder Daniel Adshead after he impressed during a trial match.
Adshead, 17, became Rochdale’s youngest ever player last season, and was invited to play in an Under-23 game at Manchester United’s training ground last week.
Despite being wanted by a clutch of Premier League clubs, that has allowed United to take charge of a deal that will cost an initial £1millions with possible add ons to follow.
In February, it was reported that Arsenal and Chelsea were keeping tabs on the midfielder after learning that he had been training with Rochdale’s first team since the age of 14.
There were also scouts present from Barcelona and Bayern Munich at Rochdale matches to keep an eye on Adshead. He played against Tottenham in the FA Cup at Wembley.
The move to Manchester United, though, would mean that Adshead would not have to leave Greater Manchester.
