Manchester United Under-23s relegated after Derby win

Manchester United Under-23s have been relegated from Division One of Premier League 2.

Ricky Sbragia’s side saw their fate sealed by Derby’s 1-0 victory over West Ham on Monday, a result which leaves United five points adrift of safety with just one game to go.

United had climbed off the foot of the table with a 1-1 draw at Manchester City on Friday, Indy Boonen cancelling out Lorenzo Gonzalez’s opener at the Academy Stadium.

Sunderland’s 4-1 victory over Leicester on Sunday, though, sent United tumbling back to the bottom and on the brink of relegation.

Derby then responded to lift themselves back out of the bottom two as Jayden Bogle’s second-half goal was enough to earn all three points against the Hammers.

United, who face Everton in their final fixture of the campaign on Friday, will ply their trade in Division Two next term alongside the likes of Stoke, Newcastle and West Brom.
