Liverpool forward Sadio Mane wants more credit to be given to striker Roberto Firmino.
Mane has scored four goals already this season for table-topping Liverpool, while Mo Salah has scored twice in four games after his record-breaking exploits of last season.
Firmino has scored just once – in the 2-1 win over Leicester – but Mane is keen to ensure that his teammate gets due credit.
“Lots of people like to talk about me and Salah,” Mane told Bleacher Report. “It’s nice to hear those things, but the strength of this Liverpool team is the collective.
“You also can’t forget that there’s a guy up front called Firmino who works like an animal for us and makes things easier.
“And the guys behind us do some extraordinary work. We try to benefit from that and help the team go forward.”
Mane and Salah were both nominated for Liverpool’s Player of the Month award, but it was centre-half Virgil van Dijk who got the nod.
