Former Man Utd defender Marcos Rojo has revealed he’s in talks with Edinson Cavani over a switch to Boca Juniors.

The 30-year-old defender left Man Utd for Boca in the January transfer window after falling out of favour at Old Trafford.

He’s now trying to convince Cavani to join him in the Argentinian capital.

Rojo revealed their conversations in an interview with Argentinian outlet TNT Sports (via Daily Mail).

He said: “I spoke with him. I played a little with him. We were together for four or five months.

“He is a great professional and if he reaches Argentine football, he would be a great star that would do Argentine football good.”

A source close to Rojo has claimed that he is actively trying to convince Cavani on a summer switch.

The news comes amid plenty of speculation on the striker’s future.

Last week, Cavani’s father said he was ‘unhappy’ in Manchester and wanted a South America return.

He also stated that Cavani needs to be in a team which is ‘fighting for important trophies’.

The 34-year-old signed a one-year contract with Man Utd when joining in October.

That deal expires in June and reportedly includes an option to extend for a further year.

Cavani is yet to reach his best form for United, although he has bagged six league goals this term.

He’s been sharing striker duties with teammate Anthony Martial, who is intent on playing down the middle rather than on the wing.

Cavani’s last goal came in the exciting 3-3 draw with Everton last month.

He’s since missed four Premier League games after picking up a muscle injury and a knock.

The striker has proven his ability to compete at the the highest level despite nearing the end of his career.

United will soon have to find his replacement if they want to challenge Man City for the title next season.

Dortmund scoring sensation Erling Haaland is expected to be their top target in the summer.

He’s wanted by teams across Europe, including Chelsea and Real Madrid.

United will have to make huge bid if they want to sign Dortmund’s latest superstar.
