Manchester United have been rocked by the news that Marcus Rashford will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

There had been optimism that he would play versus Liverpool before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he would be out for a “few weeks”.

But according to Henry Winter of The Times, the diagnosis of Rashford is far worse than Solskjaer let on.

He tweeted at half-time of United’s trip to Liverpool: “Rashford was carrying a single stress fracture in his back, now has a double stress fracture after Wolves game.

“Expected to be out for 2-3 months.

“Also has piece of floating bone in his ankle requiring non-intrusive surgery to remove. Been playing through immense pain to help #mufc”
