Romano reveals Man Utd are ‘on the verge’ of agreeing ‘new long-term deal’ with Rashford
Marcus Rashford is ‘very happy’ playing under Erik ten Hag and is close to penning a new ‘long-term’ contract at Manchester United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The England forward’s current deal is set to expire next year after the United hierarchy triggered a one-year extension last December.
Rashford enjoyed the best season of his career in 2022/23, scoring 30 goals and providing 11 assists in 56 matches across all competitions.
Having scored in huge matches like the Red Devils’ Europa League knockout-round tie at Barcelona and the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United, the 25-year-old has re-established himself as a fan favourite at Old Trafford.
Despite his contract situation, there has not been much panicking going on, with Rashford’s future always likely to be in Manchester.
And according to transfer expert Romano, a new contract is very close to being signed.

Romano revealed on Twitter on Monday afternoon that Rashford and United are ‘on the verge of reaching an agreement’ with the player ‘set to accept the proposal’.
He wrote in full: ‘Manchester United are on the verge of reaching an agreement with Marcus Rashford over new long term deal. He’s set to accept the proposal.
‘Negotiations at final stages — Rashford, very happy with Erik ten Hag.’Final details to be sorted — here we go soon.’
Some reports claimed that Rashford has been offered the chance to earn £400,000 per week at Old Trafford amidst interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old is currently one of the top earners at the club thanks to his £200k weekly wage and is bound to receive a salary increase after his incredible 22/23 campaign.
In March, Rashford voiced his displeasure at a Daily Star report which claimed he is demanding £500k a week.
In response to the story, he wrote on Twitter (now deleted): ‘Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It’s complete nonsense.
‘The club and make self have been respectful to one another, and that’s how it will remain. My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies.’
