Anthony Martial has reportedly been fined two weeks wages after going AWOL from Manchester United’s United States tour.
The France winger featured in United’s opening two games of their pre-season trip before being allowed to return home to attend the birth of his second child.
But Mourinho expected Martial to fly back to the States to rejoin his squad, but the attacker remained at home.
After the 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday night, Mourinho was asked about Martial’s return.
“Anthony Martial? Is better for [press officer] Karen [Shotbolt] to answer if she wants to answer,” Mourinho said.
Shotbolt replied: “We’re here to talk about the game.”
Mourinho was pressed again over whether Martial would be training when United return to Manchester.
“I don’t know,” said Mourinho.
Reports on Wednesday suggest United have issued Martial with a fine worth two weeks’ wages because they do not believe he has trained in the eight days since leaving United’s squad.
